The Intencity Philosophy
The Intencity Climbing and Adventure Learning Centre believes strongly in a Challenge by Choice philosophy. With this in mind we encourage all participants to have fun and challenge themselves to achieve results that are specific to their level of ability and their level of risk tolerance. Our method is to encourage each individual to push the limits of their comfort zone and experience the thrill of overcoming their perceived limitations.
Safety and the Facility
Safety is the # 1 priority. Our facility boasts the safest climbing equipment and procedures available and include adjustable harnesses, hybrid dynamic ropes, a double wrapped belay bar and a floor mounted gri gri (self locking belay device). The environment is clean, compact and safe with a carpeted padded floor.
The Intencity climbing area has 13 ropes and roughly 26 routes up to 40 feet high. Climbing routes range from beginner to intermediate and up to advanced with many exciting features including a double overhang, chimney and honeycomb contours.
Outcomes
Regardless of age or ability rock climbing is a fun, active way to challenge ones self while relying on cooperation and teamwork. It requires some strength, but focuses equally on planning, communication, problem solving and hand eye coordination. Participants gain confidence in achieving whatever level they achieve whether that be just to put on a harness and address the wall to reaching the top of any of the routes. Overcoming their fears and achieving or exceeding their personal goals is success. All the while developing a strong group dynamic realizing the benefit of cooperation.
